I started Acuatours back in 2007, after arriving back from three years living and working in Ecuador. I felt my experiences there, the things I had been doing, and the people I had met, were so unique that they should not be kept to myself, rather shared with anyone with a sense of adventure and a passion for the natural world. Back then the name began as Ecua tours, but given the heavy emphasis on marine world activity, and the fact that I am gradually expanding into other countries, I renamed the activity to Acuatours.
We have evolved gradually and now include photography tuition in the UK as well as a dedicated Basking Shark trip also in the UK.
I am also greatly passionate about activity in shark tourism and conservation in South Africa and so I also include a couple of options for tours there.
My activity in Ecuador continues and our exciting Manta Ray conservation project gets better and more involved as time goes on. We continue to attract attention to the need to conserve these magnificent animals with increased involvement from new parties each year.
We also continue to bring attention to the conservation objectives involved in Ecuador's Amazon basin, and our programs there have taken on exciting development during 2009 which will continue on during 2010 and beyond.
My main interest when I started this business was to develop tours which catered for the needs of photographers looking for a little-trodden route, with access to spectacular mini and mega flora and fauna. Whilst that is still the case, our activity in Ecuador has taken on greater meaning with involvement in
conservation efforts in this beautifully biodiverse country.
You can navigate easily around the site where you will find trip reports on our 2009 trips and programs, and you will also find
itineraries for our 2010 activities. You can also find a link to my blog and also to my photography and video gallery over at eyemocean.com.
I hope you can find all you need here, and if you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch via the contact page.
