Manta Ray Conservation - Peru
Acuatours is a small independent dive travel company providing specialist photographic tours for photographers, videographers and tourists to some of the best marine megafauna encounter sites in the world. We offer great dive trips of varying lengths to some new, little known destinations, or to some of the most popular. We also offer premium content wildlife photography trips to Scotland.

Acuatours was originally built from our pioneering efforts to bring about conservation status to a population of giant manta rays found off of the coast of Ecuador. With that objective achieved in 2011 with the 2011 CMS listing of Manta birostris, we moved the focus of the project from Ecuador to Peru where there still exists a fishery for these giant rays. The population we identified as being globally significant in Ecuador is known to migrate to Peru where there is no legislative protection. Acuatours is currently seeking a core of volunteers to assist with this project in the winter of 2013/14. Download the PDF.

Whilst we have since developed our basking shark and other wildlife focused activities, this manta project remains a core foundation of Acuatours work. Any profits made are directed towards the success of this manta project, and so even if you don't wish to travel to Peru to partake in the project, by supporting us via our other itineraries, you will also be making a valuable contribution to manta conservation.

We are currently offering our 2014 Peru program for only £1225 per person for three weeks. Secured with a 50% Deposit.
